Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you call.

These are general answers. Your specific case is reviewed in the free consultation.

How much does the consultation cost?

The consultation is free and confidential. During the call you are told how fees would work in your case before you decide anything.

How are fees charged?

The firm handles personal injury cases on a contingency basis: you do not pay legal fees unless you receive compensation. You receive a written agreement that explains the arrangement.

How are lawsuit expenses handled?

Preparing a lawsuit involves expenses: court fees, investigation, transcripts, medical records and experts. The firm advances those expenses and they are reimbursed when the case concludes.

Do I need to speak English?

No. The firm assists you in Spanish and explains each step directly.

Does my immigration status affect my case?

The firm represents injured people regardless of immigration status. Your specific situation is reviewed in the consultation.

How long will my case take?

It depends on the case. Some conclude in months; a lawsuit can take longer because of court congestion. First medical records, reports and photographs are gathered; then information is exchanged with the other side and depositions are taken. The firm keeps you informed at every stage.

Can a case settle before trial?

Yes. Negotiations can happen at any stage, almost always with insurance companies. As long as there is a chance of a fair settlement, the firm negotiates, and you are always informed of any offer.

What should I have ready when I call?

The date and place of the accident, photos if you have them, any report (police, employer, building), the names of the insurers and where you received medical care. If you do not have everything, call anyway.

Is there a deadline to make a claim?

Yes. Deadlines depend on the type of case and who is responsible, and some are short. That is why it is best to call as soon as possible.

I already have a lawyer who does not return my calls. Can I switch?

In many cases it is possible to change attorneys. Explain your situation in the consultation and you will be told what options you have.
